Computer 911 - Data Recovery Services

Computer data is highly perishable.  Some information can be lost by shutting down the computer.  Other data can be lost by any activity on the computer.  Just looking around can hide some evidence.  Immediate initial steps are critical and must be guided by the situation.  Data is increasingly likely to be lost the longer the computer is used.

IT departments use a different set of tools to maintain and image computer hard drives.  IT department drive images are rarely forensic quality and can easily destroy important information.  Contact a professional for assistance.  Any non-forensic attempts to copy the drive, assess the damage or recover files will destroy evidence.

If you suspect computer misuse or that its contents have been tampered with , stop using the computer immediately.  Shut it off.  Then contact us for assistance.  Any attempts to assess the damage or recover files will cover the tracks of the perpetrator and make it much more difficult to recover missing files.

If you suspect that your computer has been subjected to electronic intrusion, do not shut the computer off.  Disconnect it from the network.  Then contact us for assistance.  There may be active data in memory that could help identify the intruder.  Disconnecting the computer from the internet prevents further compromise of data.

If anything has been accidentally deleted, it will remain on the hard drive until it is overwritten.  Stop using the computer immediately.  Shut it off.  Then contact us for assistance.  Continued use will eventually obscure the data you want to recover.
